Really nice when they buy Kate and I lollies

Always walking Winter, there husky dog

Never ending smiles when they are around

Does a lot of chores around the house because they like to be busy

Philippines is where they live

Always thinks positive things and helps others in any way they can

Respectful to others because she treats them kindly

Eternity laughter when they are there because they're funny

Never angry at people because there kind

My Novel Study

In room 8, Miss Hudson has finished reading Wonder to us so we went to the library and chose a book and do a novel study on it. I chose a classic called Prince Caspian by C.S Lewis. I found the book very interesting and cool. I hope you read it and enjoy it.

Today is world milk day. I would just like to thank fonterra for providing milk for the schools in NZ. I appreciate the hard work you put into making it.

Paikea's Speach

In Reading we are reading a sophisticated picture book called The Whale Rider we had to read this image and write what the meaning was I think the meaning is that you can be a leader even if you are not the chosen one. I hope you read the book or watch the movies.

Whale Rider

In Reading we are reading about the Whale Rider for one of our tasks we had to create an image of a girl in the sea and it is raining and she is riding a whale.  This is my one it took me two days. I found it fun. When my teacher Miss Hudson finished reading the book I got what the meaning was, it was girls can do anything boys can do. I hope you read it or watch the movie.

Geometry

In Room 8 we are learning Geometry First we had to do 3 tasks about 3D and 2D shapes we also learnt about Faces, Edges and Vertices. Faces is the flat surfaces of a shape. Edges are when to faces meet and vertices are the corners of a shape.

In room 8 for reading we had to read an article called The Fight To Vote. There was a cartoon on it then we had to make a one of our own one that had a meaning. I did a lady and man shaking hands as a showing of equality. By the way I did not trace this.

Math problem.

In maths in my group Triangles we are learning positive and negative numbers so Miss Hudson gave us a problem and we had to work it out. I learnt how to add, subtract and multiply positive and negitive numbers I first found it hard but now it is easy for me. I hope you learn how to do it. A Rainy Day

In writing Miss Hudson my teacher put up 4 photos on the whiteboard and we had to choose one then describe it from there perspective or your perspective. I did it as my perspective so I pretended to be the person in the picture. We are still learning to describe.

Moment in time.

In writing we are learning to describe so we had to write a moment in time about our favourite time. You have to include adjectives, verbs, onomatopoeia and 5 scenes when you write a moment in time. I did mine on when I was scared of penguins. (I still am) I hope you like it.

In writing we are learning to describe things since it is nearly Grandparents day we did a Who am I on them. Can you try guess who it is?

The future of food.

In Pcs we got to use 3D printers so for reading this week we had to study about them we found out that they would be printing food that people could eat. I thought that it was sort of a bad idea because making your own cake or food would be easy you could just bake it yourself or buy food. Please tell me what you think.

What am I?

What am I?

My body has splats of spots, and a soft nose that is ever so round. I live on a farm that is where I am found. I juicy velvety corn and tasty round like soybeans. I make a cute thundery loud noise I lay around in the sun playing with cool oozy gooey lazing around

What am I?

I am the colour of bleach green I have scales. A terribly fierce cross-eyed animal is what I am like. In a deadly silent swamp is when I am found. I make a thundering croak like sound. I eat revolting large fish and furry animals. I am an ever so lazy animal but when I hunt what out I’ll be around.

What may I be?

I am the color of ebony black and have a hint of fur that is white as falling snow. In the majestic mysterious forest I am found or in a pitch black den. Deadly fanged snakes and silver scaled fish is what can consume in a bite. I make a blood curdling sound. I am fierce and ever so high tempered but soon I will not be around for I am endangered.

In room 8 we are focusing on learning how to describe things, since we went to the zoo a couple of weeks of go we had to pick 3 animals that we saw and do 3 what am I paragraph. If you write a What am I you must remember to include adjectives, rhyming words, look, sound, Habitat/Lives, Characteristics and Eats.

Money Flowchart.

In room 8 we were learning about financial Literacy  so we had to make a money flowchart of how we think where money goes to. This is what I thought money went to. You get payed by your boss then you spend it  the money goes to the cash register then a bank person takes the money which goes to the bank who give it to people who need it then it starts again.

Auckland Zoo Elephants Poster.

In our school we got to go to the Zoo because our topic is Land, Sea and Sky. So we had to make an advertisement for the zoo. I made a poster and put how the Auckland zoo supports/helps Asian Elephants.

Asian Elephant Profile.

Since we are going to the Auckland Zoo we did some research on Asian Elephants and make a profile about  them. I learnt that they can consume 300 pounds of food a day and they are endangered. I hope you learn something new like I did.

Dear Diary.

In Room 8 for reading we had to do some exploring about Anjalee an Elephant in Auckland Zoo we had to watch this video LINK TO VIDEO and write a diary from Anjalee's perspective. We were learning about her because we will be going to the Auckland zoo on Thursday for our topic Land, Sea and Sky. I learnt that Anjalee had been transported from Sri Lanka to New Zealand for Six months.

How wolves changed rivers.

  You may think that wolves are scary but they're not they can help. The wolves in yellowstone national park helped rivers, animals and many more.

Ever since the wolves came back there were less deers because the wolves changed the behavior so they hid, therefore there were more plants because deers ate plants therefore animals started to come back.

When the wolves didn’t come 60 years ago animals that kill other animals were gone. Therefore when wolves were introduced they killed coyotes so bevers came back and because beavers  built dams therefore more animals came back to the park.

When the beavers came back it led to change in the behaviour of the rivers there were less erosions because the beavers built dams so the soil was pushed out of the rivers therefore there were less erosions.

So that is how wolves helped which leads to life and nature back to the park because even though they are scary they can make a good change therefore animals will be happy once again.






In room 8 we learnt how to write an explanation writing. We wrote how wolves changed rivers. I learnt when you make an explanation writing you must include cause and effect words and Technical words. I enjoyed writing it. I hope try writing an explanation writing and you enjoy it to.

     PHYTOPLANKTON

 Close your eyes and imagine a world where nothing alive every creature dead and gone. How would you feel? No animals, No Vegetables or fruits not even humans would be alive. So how would this terrible thing happen? And who helps us produce oxygen, food, light and nutrients?  Well it’s all thanks to PHYTOPLANKTON they help everything to live. PHYTOPLANKTON  make there own food through a process called PHOTOSYNTHESIS. PHOTOSYNTHESIS make oxygen so if you breath in you are using 50% of the oxygen. So no PHYTOPLANKTON no oxygen. So how do they make it? well they live under water the oxygen dissolves in the water so you don’t see any bubbles in the water then it creates oxygen. PHYTOPLANKTON also makes food, light and nutrients.

So now you know how PHYTOPLANKTON helps the world so I thank PHYTOPLANKTON for producing oxygen, food, light and nutrients  for us even though they are so small that you need a microscope to see them they, PHYTOPLANKTON help us a lot.

           Cheeseboard soufflé & seasonal salad

                                                                 Ingredients

For the soufflÉ

• 50g butter
• 
• , plus extra for greasing
• 25g plain flour, plus extra for dusting
• 200ml milk
• 
• 300g leftover hard cheese, cut into chunks
• 100ml double cream or crème fraîche
• 4 eggs
• 
• , separated
• grating of nutmeg
• 
• pinch cayenne pepper

For the salad

• 110g bag salad leaf
• 100g leftover blue or goat's cheese, crumbled
• 50g leftover shelled nut
• 1 pear
• 
• , sliced
• 3 tbsp salad dressing (use your favourite), to serve

Method

1. Heat oven to 200C/180C fan/gas 6. Melt all the butter in a saucepan. Brush a 20cm soufflé dish with a little of it, then dust with flour. In the saucepan, stir the flour into the rest of the melted butter, then sizzle everything for 1 min. Gradually pour in the milk to make a white sauce, then add two-thirds of the cheese and carry on cooking to melt. Leave to cool slightly, then mix in the remaining cheese, the cream or crème fraîche and the egg yolks. Season, then add the nutmeg and cayenne pepper.
2. In a clean bowl, whisk the egg whites until stiff. Fold into the cheese sauce, then carefully tip into the soufflé dish. Bake the soufflé for 25 mins until puffed up and golden.
3. While the soufflé is cooking, toss the salad ingredients together. Once the soufflé is cooked, dress the salad and serve alongside.

The Day I became a Spy.

It was fine ordinary day or so i thought it was. Yes my name is name is  Kirsten just ordinary kirsten or I might not be.  So I was saying I sat on a bench I picked up a newspaper and read the subheading YOU SAMANTHA KIRSTEN HAS BEEN CHOSEN TO BE A SPY! I was surprised but my heart was smiling. I continued to read and it said … you Kirsten are assigned to a mission with Kate and Kaia You are to bring your Twin Sister and your Friend and meet here then there was a picture of a giant dome  So I raced home leaving the Newspaper behind but I came back for it. I showed Kate and Kaia and they looked surprised but happy. We got to go shouted Kaia

The Girls ran as fast as lightning when they got there this lady came up to them and said Hello agent Kirsten, Kate and Kaia I see you have read the newspaper Yes Sir Mam Sir Shouted Kate the lady continued speaking Kaia and I’s mouths were just hanging wide open and we nodded.

She, the lady reviewed the mission with them they had to retrieve the stolen gems all over the world and oh yeah this is your sidekick slash helper on missions and his name is charlie.

The Lady left us then Kate said “are we gonna do it?” asked Kate, We got to yelled Kaia this is a once in a lifetime opportunity. Ok we're going to do it. Then there was a silence then someone broke the silence and that person was Charlie the dog the dog could talk then he said in the most adorable voice “ Greetings and Salutations my name is Charlie I will be disguised as your dog that everybody wants but in reality I’m here to assist you on missions”.

Ok the dog can talk Kate said ever so slowly . After 5 hours or more their mission began. They had to go to a very very rich person’s mansion. They entered my tummy was popping was if there was popping candy in my tummy.

As we entered the first thing we saw was the diamond. It was as clear as crystal when we were about to take our first step then there was lazers so we all cartwheeled there as quiet as a spider we got the diamond but then Kate tripped then an artifact fell and then BEEP! BEEP! BEEP! BEEP!  The alarm went of.

The next thing that happened was a giant guy with a face as red as a tomato was about to kill us Yep I think that’s the big fat guy that’s really rich said Kate between laughs but with a heart of a lion we retrieved the diamond and headed back to headquarters and that was just the beginning.

In Room 8 for writing we get to write anything. So I wrote a narrative about how it would be to become a spy.Just to let you know I'm not actually a spy but I would love to be. And my Goal is LF for this writing piece. Te be continued.

Dear Mandy Hanger,

My name is Kirsten and I study at Papakura Central School. For Reading I read your book, Double Danger. I am writing to you tell you how I felt. At first I was really scared , so scared I told my mum, so scared I thought about it at night. I was really scared  in the chapter Mythical Monsters and Shadow man .

In the end when he found the person that looked like him I was confused but I still felt scared. Then when he found out that, that person was his twin I was shocked but I was laughing to because I have a twin too but I’m not adopted .

I really enjoyed the book Double Danger and I would read it again.

Healthy Lunch box Game Rules

Rule No. 1 No Junk food is allowed

Rule No. 2 Make sure you have about 2 fruits and veggies in your lunch box. You are allowed 2 treats.

Rule No. 3  You must have water, no water then you're dehydrated if you're dehydrated then your won’t really work will it? And there is to be no fizzy drinks

Rule No. 4 Chocolate and Lollies are banned

Rule No. 4 You must at least have 4 to 6 things in your lunch box and have an appetizing sandwich ( if you are have nutella don’t to much because you could get cancer) You could have Peanut Butter, Avocado, Nutella, Cheese or butter

Refection on Team Work

In Papakura Central School we had a Team Building Day so we had to make a Refection on Team Work. I wrote about Sharing Ideas, Collaboration and Support. I hope you learn something from my Reflection.

Famous 60s people

In room 8 we had to make a Prezi presentation because our topic is Arts Through the Decades. We all had to get into buddies I went with Chloe together we created a Prezi about Elivis Prezy, President John. F, Walt Disney and lots more. We had to include there life information and there biography. I learnt that Sandra Dee was the Queen of Teens and she acted when she was only 14!.

Against animals in captivity.

I strongly believe the animals being in captivity is vile and cruel because they get separated from the families. Then they get kept in a tight space scared not knowing where they are.

Firstly because the animals need to be with their families so they won’t become home sick and then die.  Zoos are miserable places for animals so that’s why they die.

Secondly animals need to be free and in the wild happy with their families spending time with nature. More than 1,041 animals are captured every year for the zoo not knowing what nature is.

Thirdly, So animals know how it feels to be free not In captivity, not in cages trapped in a small amount of space. Zoos can’t provide the amount of space that animals have in the wild.

Finally, circuses, Animals can enjoy their lives exploring their habitat not being in circuses performing for entertainment, A female lion gave birth to three week year old cubs but they died because of the circus and the mother lion died too.

I beg you to consider animal snot being in captivity they need to be in the wild with their families safe enjoying their lives. We have the right to let them live because they have never done anything to us then why are we doing it to them?

In room 8 our teacher Miss Hudson read us a story called the one and Only Ivan once Miss Hudson finished reading the book we had to do some writing about animals being in captivity and not being in captivity. I chose Against animals being in Captivity. When Miss Hudson finished the book I noticed the message was that animals need to be free. I hope you agree with me about animals not being in captivity they need a better place.

60s Fasion Descriptoin

In Room 8 we had to design a 60s clothes then we had to make it out of newspaper, 2 scissors and 2 strips of tape. I was in a group with Brianna, Aween and Taylah. We decided to make a

Tie Dyed T-shirt and a Tie dyed skirt because in the 60s they wore Mod things and Tie Dyed cloths were one of it. I had an idea to make a hand bag and a bow both Tie Dyed too. Then we got started Brianna was the model I started making the handbag Aween help me make it while Taylah was making a skirt

In room 8 since our topic is arts through the decades we had to make a 60s cloths out of News paper. Then write a description about it that includes what we did well and what we thought we could have done better. I hope you like it and get a better idea of what Arts through the Decades is
